Maytag bottom freezer door handle loose.

Order a new freezer door handle here and install it the same way the old one was removed. Test the handle tightness by opening and closing the freezer door a few times. Some bottom freezer handles are not factory installed. I can get the set screw tight but the handle remains loose.

Open the refrigerator door to access the flat head screws holding the top of the handle to the top edges of the door. Carefully twist the door handle and gently pull it away from the freezer. Check the setscrews per the instructions below. The setscrews might have only been partially tightened when the handles were installed.

Firmly push the handle onto the door. Do i need to remove the entire assembly and perhaps tig. To do this grip the handle securly and yank the handle straight to the left and it will unclip and pull off. The handles are installed by the owner or installer as directed in the installation instructions.

If your bottom freezer refrigerator handle is loose making noise or even falls off after use it was not installed properly by the owner or installer. If either the refrigerator or freezer handle is loose or not tight against the door they might not have been installed correctly. Use the screwdriver to pry the screw cover from the bottom of the maytag refrigerator handle. The freezer portion handle on my subzero model 642 is loose at the bottom stanchion.

Cover the tip of a small flat head screwdriver with masking tape to protect the refrigerator finish. Door and leveling expand collapse global location handle is loose last updated. Shop bottom freezer shop side by side shop top freezer. If the handle is still loose tighten the screws on the handle to fully secure it.

Once both screws are loose pull the damaged refrigerator handle off of the door to install a new handle. Once the handle is pulled off you can tighten the screws going into the handle bracket on the freezer door and you should be good to go again. Place the new handle on the door for side by side doors the small screws should face the other door and ensure that the top and bottom of the handle is placed over the screws in the door.
